Festive frolics!

There have been several fun festive highlights for me in December, when I supported a group of students from Manchester University to deliver a Christmas Card Challenge over a number of different buildings throughout the university. My second highlight was supporting a group of employee volunteers from Lloyds TSB to prep, cook and serve a Christmas Dinner at Newbridge. All volunteers were definitely spreading the festive feeling, and it was great visiting everyone the week before Christmas to see how they were getting on and give them a little present!

Volunteers from Lloyds TSB

I attended a good training course at Bolton Volunteer Centre on 'developing volunteering opportunities', which was a great opportunity to reflect on areas of the charity where we could develop some new volunteering roles and supporting staff in these areas.

I was also part of the consultation group to create a volunteer strategy for Cheshire East, which was a great opportunity to contribute my skills and experience in strategic planning within the voluntary sector. A key challenge has been getting to grips with the changes to the CRB checking and its evolution into the new DBS Disclosures.
