Volunteer update - October 2012

Together Trust Volunteer Coordinator Sue Lewis updates us on what she's been up to...

The last few weeks have been super busy and exciting for Together Trust volunteers and volunteering. With four recruitment events, including the Labour Party Conference Job Fair, I've been promoting the Together Trust all over Greater Manchester with a big smile and lots of leaflets and information.

A highlight for me has been contributing to discussions to develop the volunteering strategy for Cheshire East with CSVCE and I’m looking forward to being part of the task group to pull this together to support the area.

In early October 18 enthusiastic and skilled employee volunteers from Eli Lilly & Company went to one of our homes to do a complete make-over on the front and back gardens. The day was a huge success and the volunteers worked incredibly hard as a team to make it happen and bring the garden to life with a patio, allotment and shed, beautiful bedding areas and freshly painted doors. Huge thanks to Eli Lilly & Company for their energy and commitment, Marshalls who donated all of the flags for the patio, and Golden Days Garden Centre who helped us with all of the plants.

Over the next few weeks I’m looking forward to putting on an event at head office for CSV Make a Difference Day 2012 on Monday 29th November, where everyone is welcome to come and find out about volunteering with us whilst turning your hand to making bread (or just eating it!). I’m also going to be promoting our Membership volunteering opportunities and holding an information evening for prospective Members on 28th November.

Good luck to all the new starters and a big thank you to everyone who gives their time to support us... you continue to be an incredible asset!
