Get There Together

The last few weeks I've been focussing on our Get There Together supported volunteering project in both Cheadle and Stockport. The project has been funded by Equity Foundation and it was brilliant to welcome Rosie to one of the information drop-ins in early April. Huge thanks also go to Anchorpoint who set up an information event in Stockport for the project.

The overall aim of the project is to support the participants into volunteering opportunities either within the Together Trust or in another organisation. This support includes three initial workshops designed to inform participants about the charity and volunteering, raise confidence and self-esteem, support goal-setting and finally offer individualised support throughout the application and volunteering experience.

The first workshop involved the two groups getting to know each other, finding out about the Together Trust and about volunteering. The second workshop was centred on goal-setting and a journey mapping exercise, which identified the goals each individual wanted to reach, what obstacles might stand in their way, and what is going to help them overcome these barriers.

The groups are enjoying the sessions and gaining a lot from the experience. The existing volunteers who are co-facilitating the sessions have been an incredible support and great advocates for the charity.

In preparation for the final workshop, I am collecting two-man tents! Watch this space for a video coming soon explaining why!
