Egg-cellent achievements

A recent key achievement has been completing the Diversity, Wellbeing and Progression Database. I’ve been supporting a team of three students from Manchester University to design the database for their final year project. It’s been a huge learning curve for me and I think the students have gained a huge amount from it too. The database will monitor equal opportunities and diversity of volunteers and will also monitor their wellbeing and progression. This will give me rich information with which to constantly improve our service to volunteers, and to feed into bids in the future.

Speaking of bids... having contributed to writing two bids in December for volunteer-related funding. I was ecstatic to find out we were successful in both. This means that a chunk of my role is now committed to delivering these two exciting projects.

Equity Foundation have funded us for a new supported volunteering project in Cheadle and Stockport, and Booth Charities have funded a volunteer-led summer holiday programme for children in Salford. The supported volunteering programme is called ‘Get There Together’ and kicked off with a cafe-style information event supported by Anchorpoint Stockport this week, the next info event is in Cheadle on 3rd April and I’m looking forward to it. It’s challenging to manage this on top of my day-to-day role but I’m loving being busy and seeing volunteering really taking off on a new level within the charity.
