Trainee Police at the TT!

Two trainee police officers have been volunteering with us this week at SK30+ as part of their police officer training programme. Chris and Cat joined the team to support the staff in delivering the programme of activities including sensory sessions and a pub quiz.

Chris said:

"I have enjoyed my time at SK30+ and especially working with the group, getting to know their personalities. Working with adults with learning difficulties has allowed me to experience things from their perspective. This has allowed me to see some of the skills and techniques that the staff use to engage with each individual person. I hope to use this experience in the police service when dealing with adults with learning difficulties who may be offenders or victims/witnesses of crime."

Cat commented:

"During my placement I was able to interact with individuals with varying degrees of learning disabilities. I really enjoyed this interaction and getting to know the service users. I really enjoyed the trip to the war museum as it gave me an insight into how members of the public interact with service users. This made me stop and check my own behaviour. This has been a really good insight and experience which I thoroughly enjoyed, and I feel I will be able to provide a better policing service because of it."

SK30+ would like to thank the volunteers for their hard work and support, and wish the duo lots of luck in their presentation about the Together Trust.
